Internet advertising trends you won t be disappointed

I hate peeping Toms. For one thing they usually step all over the hedges and plants on the side of someone’s house killing them and setting back the vegetation’s gardener countless time and effort. Another thing that I don’t really like about them is that they’re such sideline actors, lacking the abilities to participate actively, that I just can’t offer them any respect, whatsoever. Finally, I hate peeping Toms because of the very nature of their field. What is that nature? Its one of intrusiveness. And intrusive, unwelcome company is intolerable in any form. This leads me to internet advertising trends. Now, I’m not like Robin, that weirdo from my cultural anthropology class; I think that advertising is something that has its place in our society; which for better or worse is structured along a marketplace economy. But, simply because I feel advertising has a right to exist, doesn’t mean that I like or agree with it, in its many forms and mediums.

Such is the case with the recent trends in internet advertising. Pop up windows, banners and the like seem to offer me nothing but irritation. And soliciting emails…10% of emails received in 2000 were advertisements! It seems though that some of the biggest problems with the internet advertising trends are the lack of accountability.

Where do you register your complaints? How can you protest in any form against companies whose advertising techniques you don’t agree with? You don’t. And on another point of difference between traditional products and their advertising and those of the internet nature, simply ignoring internet advertising is ineffective due to their incredible cost effectiveness, for example email advertising. I don’t like this business of faceless intruders. At least peeping Toms personally stand there and intrude. So in final analysis: it’s true, I hate peeping Toms, but if I had to choose, I’d take one any day over an internet advertiser.

Cosmetic dentistry 101

The objective of cosmetic dentistry, which is elective dental work, is to improve the appearance of the teeth and to enhance one’s smile. Cosmetic dentistry does not contribute to the health of the teeth. The art and science of dentistry has made advances such that one need not remain resigned to stained or chipped teeth. There are several cosmetic techniques available that allow one to correct dental anomalies that can impair appearance. These include: Bleaching The process of bleaching or tooth whitening helps to brighten teeth that become dark with age or get stained due to smoking, tea/coffee drinking, etc. Bleaching removes extrinsic as well as intrinsic stains. The process, which can be carried out once every three years, is carried out largely by using hydrogen peroxide solution. Bleaching can whiten teeth by up to 5 times the original shade. A bleaching tooth tray that carries the peroxide solution can cost between $ 200 - $ 500. Bonding The appearance of teeth that have spaces in between or are cracked and chipped can be improved by the bonding process in which a hard, sterile, and inert tooth-colored plastic is affixed to the teeth. The manner in which bonding is done affects the shape, size, and appearance of teeth. The composite fillings wear more quickly than the traditional silver fillings and patients are usually advised to refrain from hard foods that may result in the chipping of the bonding material. The bonding process takes 10-15 minutes for a tooth and can cost around $ 300 to $ 700 for a tooth. The bonded restoration stains similar to natural teeth. Porcelain Veneers These are extremely thin shells used to cover the front side of the teeth. Porcelain veneers are more resistant to stains and chipping as compared to bonding. They are bonded to the teeth using a special bonding material and can be used to alter the appearance of teeth, provide fullness to the upper lips, and fill gaps between teeth. Porcelain veneers enable a more consistent appearance as compared to bonding, they do not stain and a veneer treatment can last for up to 15 years. Veneer application on a single tooth can cost up to $ 2,000. As compared to the application of crowns or caps, teeth are ground to a lesser extent during veneer treatment. Orthodontics and periodontics Orthodontics deals with the prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. Braces are used in orthodontics for the treatment of crooked teeth, protruding teeth, widely spaced teeth, an underbite, etc. Metal braces made from titanium are expensive and need to be worn for 2-3 years. Non-invasive straightening braces cost less and require to be worn for a lesser period of time. Lingual braces are placed behind the teeth and are ideal for those who lay emphasis on cosmetic appeal. Periodontics helps individuals to enhance their smile by altering the contours of the gums, it is a simple surgical process accomplished using laser and can cost up to $ 2,000. Porcelain Crowns Porcelain crowns are used for broken teeth, teeth with silver filling or those with excessive decay, and also teeth that have undergone root canal treatment. Crowns can be matched to tooth color.

For many people, interviewing is not a natural act any more than going on a blind date is. You are asked a bunch of questions about your work. You answer them. They ask a bunch more; you answer them. You’re graded on your performance (you receive a job offer or not). Yet interviews are predictable processes and as such can be planned for What does an employer want to know about you? Do you have the skills to do the job that needs to be filled? How will you fit in with my company? If I hire you, are you someone I will need to worry about? How does this get determined in an interview? By asking questions about what you have done and how you did it or decided it should be done. By asking behavioral questions that will give an employer a sense of the scope of your experiences By asking concrete questions to ascertain your knowledge By observing your body language or physical response to questioning to observe whether it is consistent with a successful person. The fourth way (observing body language or physical response to questions) is particularly interesting because it is not skill or experience based and is completely subjective and emotional. AND it is part of the decision process. And want are firm’s trying to find out about you? Leadership. Honesty. Trustworthiness. You can practice with a friend or family member but they may not be much better than you. So how do you practice you presentation and get immediate feedback in order to improve your presentation and demonstrate these attributes? Toastmasters ( toastmasters. org) offers people an opportunity to practice how to speak throughout their program. Whether you answer extemporaneous questions off the cuff for 1-2 minutes in Table Topics (“It’s warm! It’s summer! People start to go to the beach and spending time outdoors. Tell us about a time you had fun at the beach, Jeff.” Notice that you only find out when you will speak at the end when you hear your name) or by doing actual 4-6 minute speeches, Toastmasters offers concrete opportunities to get used to being “on the spot” as happens in an interview. It also gives you an opportunity to observe others and learn from them and from the evaluations that are given. There are Toastmasters clubs throughout the world. Take the high ground with quality pr

Quality public relations does something positive for business, non-profit and association managers about the behaviors of the key external “publics” that most affect their operations. In other words, it alters individual perception that leads to changed behaviors among their really important outside audiences. In so doing, PR helps persuade those key external audiences to the managers’ way of thinking, helping move them to take actions that allow for managerial success. The alternative to quality PR suggests this question for managers: are you simply looking for publicity, or do you want public relations that really CAN change in - dividual perception and lead to equally changed stakeholder behaviors that help you get your money’s worth? If that’s the high ground you have in mind, take a look at this PR action blueprint: people act on their own perception of the facts before them, which leads to predictable behaviors about which something can be done. When we create, change or reinforce that opinion by reaching, persuading and moving-to-desired-action the very people whose behaviors affect the organization the most, the public relations mission is accomplished.

Thus, public relations quality begins with these two realities: 1) the right PR really CAN alter individual perception and lead to changed behaviors that help you succeed, and 2), your public relations effort must involve more than good times, booklets and press releases if you really want to get your money’s worth. Results, for example, like membership applications on the rise; prospects starting to work with you; customers making repeat purchases; stronger relationships with the educational, labor, financial and healthcare communities; improved relations with government agencies and legislative bodies, and even capital givers or specifying sources looking your way With the passage of time, you may well see rebounds in showroom visits; new proposals for strategic alliances and joint ventures; community service and sponsorship opportunities; enhanced activist group relations, and expanded feedback channels, not to mention new thought - leader and special event contacts. Quality results means your PR crew – agency or staff – must be committed to you, as the senior project manager, and to your PR blueprint starting with target audience perception monitoring. It’s really vital that your most important outside audiences perceive your operations, products or services in a positive light. So be certain that your PR staff buys this approach. And be especially careful that they accept the reality that perceptions almost always lead to behaviors that can help or hurt your unit. Emphasize for your team the plan for monitoring and gathering perceptions by questioning members of your most important outside audiences. Questions along these lines: how much do you know about our organization? How much do you know about our services or products and employees? Have you had prior contact with us and were you pleased with the interchange? Have you experienced problems with our people or procedures? Should your budget be able to accommodate professional survey people to handle the perception monitoring phases of your program, fine. If not, always remember that your PR people are also in the perception and behavior business and can pursue the same objective: identify untruths, false assumptions, unfounded rumors, inaccuracies, misconceptions and any other negative perception that might translate into behaviors you won’t find acceptable. Time to establish your public relations goal, one that speaks to problems that showed up during your key audience perception monitoring. In all likelihood, it will call for straightening out that dangerous misconception, or correcting that gross inaccuracy, or doing something about that ugly rumor. Obviously, a PR goal needs a PR strategy that shows you how to reach your new goal. You have three choices when it comes to handling perception or opinion challenges: create perception where there may be none, change the perception, or reinforce it. As always, a bad strategy pick will taste like vinaigrette on your toasted bagel, so be certain the new strategy fits well with your new public relations goal. For example, you don’t want to select “change” when the facts dictate a “reinforce” strategy. It’s just plain hard work persuading an audience to your way of thinking, so your PR team must develop some very effective language. Phrases that correct the original aberation and, at the same time, are compelling, persuasive, believable AND clear and factual. You have little choice if you are to correct a perception by attracting opinion to your point of view, leading to the desired behaviors. Take the time to review your final draft message for impact and persuasiveness. Only then can you select the communications tactics most likely to carry your words to the attention of your target audience. Dozens are available, from speeches, facility tours, emails and brochures to consumer briefings, media interviews, newsletters, personal meetings and many others. But be sure that the tactics you pick are known to reach folks just like your audience members. Strange but true that the credibility of a message can depend on how it’s delivered. So, on the chance that may be true, you might want to introduce your message to smaller groups rather than using higher-profile tactics such as news releases or talk show appearances. Curiosity will prompt requests for a progress report which will prompt you and your PR folks to consider returning to the field for a second perception monitoring session with members of your external audience. Using many of the same questions used in the first benchmark session, you’ll now be alert for signs that the bad news perception is being altered in your direction. You can always accelerate the effort if you feel the need to move things along at a faster clip – try more communications tactics and increased frequencies. Just who is the manager who takes the high ground with quality PR? Why, the business, non-profit or association manager whose public relations effort delivers the kind of key external stakeholder behavior change leading directly to achieving his or her department, division or subsidiary objectives. end Please feel free to publish this article and resource box in your ezine, newsletter, offline publication or website. For proper dryness industrial ovens are used

Industrial ovens are used for the removal of solvents from different products that are in process. Such ovens also reactivate glue and other fuse materials jointly and preheat, dissolve and coat other materials. Too much heat and mass is needed for such processes. The requirement of type of heating material may vary from business to business and their processes. Industrial ovens are planned with a combination of types of heat transfers. The two main patterns that chiefly exist for industrial ovens are batch and continuous ovens. A large number of ovens mainly came under the batch category in which the whole is divided into different batches.

But continuous ovens are automatic system in that budge big amount of products through the oven. Industrial ovens are often used in a broad variety of business firms like paper coating, fabrics, industrial and encrusted fabrics, technical textiles, weaving industries, carpeting industries and construction materials. The industrial ovens can be divided into three categories: conduction, convection and infrared. In conduction, direct heat is supplied to only one part, which exhilarates the electrons and the heat from a hot plate is transferred to the underside of the product. Convection is similar to way in which gases or liquids are heated. Infrared ovens heat the material itself and such type of ovens use radiant heat. It is better to select the suitable energy source always keep in mind that exact processes can be achieved through exact control of temperature.

2 common e mail problems and what to do about them

When it works well, e-mail can be great. It's hard to beat e-mail for everything from staying in touch with family to requesting information from businesses or other organizations. Want to send the same message to several people? Communicate with someone across the continent? Transmit photos, manuscripts or other information?

For speed and efficiency, this virtually instantaneous medium is one of the most convenient features of modern life. But e-mail is not without problems. If you key in the name of an intended recipient but your message keeps bouncing back, you might not be singing e-mail's praises. Ditto for attachments that won't open or other such nuisances. With just a little patience, though, you can readily overcome most e-mail problems. What follows are 4 common e-mail problems along with solutions for overcoming them. Problem – Returned Messages This may be the most frustrating of all e-mail problems. After taking the time to create a message, you click on the “send” button and consider your task accomplished. But the next thing you know, the message pops up in your in-box with a heading that it did not reach its intended recipient. Solutions First, take the simple step of checking to see that the address of your recipient has been entered correctly. This may seem obvious, but sometimes the only thing wrong is a misplaced letter, the use of “com” instead of “net”, or some similar error. If you know the correct address, this is a straightforward matter of double checking each character. If not, you might need to experiment by sending multiple messages, or by entering alternative addresses with slight variations. Under this approach, you simply keep track of which messages are bounced back and compare them with the overall list of addresses you used. If you sent four variations but only three were returned, you have solved the problem by the process of elimination. Sometimes the source of your problem lies with the recipient. If messages to other addresses go through but fail here, try to contact the intended recipient by other means and report the situation. The cause may range from a temporary problem with the recipient's server to a switch to another e-mail provider, to a full in box. In this case, simply waiting may be the best recourse. Or a phone call or other communication may be required on your part to obtain the correct e-mail address. If all your messages are being returned, you may have a connection problem. See below for more details. Problem 2 – You Have Lost Your Connection Sometimes a failure to send or receive e-mail can be traced to a lost connection with your Internet service provider. Solutions If you see a “failure to connect” or “no response” message or have otherwise determined that you have failed to connect, double check to make certain there are no physical problems. First, check your cables and connections. If you use a dial-up modem, listen to make sure it produces the normal high-pitched dialing sound. If not, the problem could be a loose connection. Locate the phone cord that runs from the back of your computer to the phone jack, and then make sure that each end is plugged in snugly. If you will don't hear the expected dialing sound, check to make sure your phone cord is undamaged. If it seems worn, replace it with a new one. Other steps include making certain the line is plugged into the right port, and checking the phone jack by plugging the cord into a different jack. If you hear the dialing sound after any of these steps, you have made a successful connection. Connection problems may be more common with dial-up modems than with broadband connections, but the latter are also dependent on physical connections. A loose wire or poorly connected cable can easily be problematic. Sometimes a glitch occurs that can be best addressed by repeating portions of the initial set-up process. A simple fix touted by Verizon technical service reps for some DSL (digital subscriber line) customers is to disconnect the three lines from the back of the modem and then reconnect them in a specified order. When this action is taken, the online connection is immediately regained. If you are online but keep getting bumped off, the lost connection can be the result of an unintended software command. In Outlook Express, for example, you will find the command “Hang up when finished.” If the box in front of this phrase is checked, the connection will automatically be severed each time you send or download e-mail. Sometimes a misdirected click of your mouse will cause you to place a check in the box even though you do not realize it. Simply click on the check mark to make it disappear, and the hang-ups will cease. These 2 common e-mail problems are quite easy to determine and when rectified will make your emailing experience more enjoyable.

Tips for getting the most life out of your laptop battery

As more and more people are becoming part of the mobile workforce and using laptop or tablet PC’s battery life is often a primary concern. Today’s portable computers use lithium-ion batteries instead of older style nickel-cadmium power sources. In addition to being able to hold a greater charge, lithium is also very light weight, another important concern for portable computers. When you are purchasing your computer investigate if a long-life battery is available. While it will add to the cost it can give up to double the usage of a normal battery. To get the most usage out of your battery you’ll need to understand a little bit about how batteries work.

Each battery has a limited number of charge cycles. If your battery lasts for 4 hours and on the first day you use it for 2 hours and then recharge it fully and the next day you use it for 2 hours again and then fully recharge it again, you will have completed one charge cycle. Each battery has a limited number of charge cycles before it starts losing it’s the charge it can hold. If you aren’t using your wireless connection to connect to the internet or network turn off the wireless connection it will extend the life of your battery. The same holds true for Bluetooth connections. Another way to extend your battery life is to lower the brightness of your monitor. Lastly bear in mind that using your portable computer to play a DVD movie uses more power than using a spreadsheet.

If you find that you are often using the computer with the battery at full charge while connected to the main power supply you may want to remove the battery. Keeping the battery fully charged while it’s at a high temperature, which is typical of conditions of a laptop that is always plugged into the main power supply, will dramatically shorten its lifespan. Discharging the battery regularly is also conducive to long battery life. Under optimal conditions laptop batteries will last 24 to 36 months, under less than optimal conditions you may shorten the lifespan down to 12 to 18 months.

To help keep your battery operating at optimal conditions try to fully discharge it once a month. Many people find it helpful to set a calendar reminder so they don’t forget. If you find your battery lasts less than 60 minutes, try fully discharging it several days in a row. Just leave your computer on overnight with no applications running. Be sure to turn off any alarm or lower power warnings that are associated with your power settings. If this fails to work you will need to replace the battery. © Copyright TabletPC.6LN. com, All Rights Reserved.

Forex vs stocks

First of all, what is Forex? It is a short version of FOReign EXchange. It is also called FX and 4X, but regardless of the name you use, it is the largest financial market in the world. From 1997 to the end of 2000, daily Forex trading has skyrocketed from $5 billion to over $1.5 trillion.. Let’s look at some reasons why Forex trading is rapidly gaining popularity over other markets. Trading hours: The Forex market is traded 24 hours per day from about 7pm EST on Sunday until about 3pm EST on Friday. The stock market is only traded Monday thru Friday with limited hours.

Liquidity: Forex markets trade over $1.5 trillion each day while the stock market only around $200 billion. There are only 7 major currencies traded on the Forex while there are more than 40,000 stocks from which to choose. Commissions: No commissions are charged on the Forex while the stock markets charge high commissions and transaction fees. Leverage: Forex Market offers great leverage power. Brokers usually offer from 100:1 to 400:1 leverage. This means a trader using 100:1 leverage you control $100,000 with only $1,000 margin.

Stock market investors pay full price for stock when purchased unless they have a margin account and the leverage with margin is usually only 2:1. Low Minimum Investment: The minimum initial investment to open a Forex trading account is as low as $300. Most stock brokers require several thousand dollars as a minimum to open an account. This is the perfect market. Foreign Exchange trading has long been recognized as a superior investment opportunity by major banks, multinational corporations and other institutions. Now the internet has propelled Forex trading among private individuals tremendously. Trade from home, the office, or virtually anywhere in the world. Trade virtually anytime day or night. Work part time or full time. It is obvious that the Forex Market offers a substantial opportunity to those willing to invest energy, focus, and a little money. It is difficult for a new Forex trader to become successful in the Forex market without understanding the basics and how it works. This knowledge can be obtained in a free Forex training program.

How satellite tv works

Gone are the days where you could spot a satellite dish six blocks away. Today’s dish is drastically smaller, much more reliable and considerably less expensive than its enormous ancestor. So, just how does Satellite TV work? First, you need to understand how the antenna broadcasting system works. Traditional television broadcasting antennas use radio waves to transmit their programming. Each broadcasting station operates at a unique frequency that identifies the station to the FCC and allows your receiver to select a particular “channel”. These radio waves are carried from the station’s antenna to yours which, when tuned to the specific frequency picks up the waves for your television to interpret and project. Unfortunately, radio waves can only travel so far when emitted from an antenna and are subject to distortion as objects get in between the two points of communication.

Enter the Satellite A satellite is actually any object that orbits a larger object, such as the Earth. Our Moon is considered a satellite and, in theory, the Earth would be a satellite to the Sun. Man-made satellites follow this same premise. A man-made satellite is placed into position just over 20,000 miles above the Earth. It is programmed to orbit the Earth so that the satellite stays in sync with the Earth’s rotation. This means that a satellite that is positioned over the United States will stay over the United States, despite the Earth’s constant movement. These man-made satellites are electronic boxes that contain a communication system, a power source and a navigational system. Many satellites use rechargeable batteries as their power source, feeding off the Sun’s natural energy source via large solar panels. The communication system is designed to relay information back and forth through those same radio waves that the traditional broadcasting system uses but at 20,000 miles over the Earth, satellites have a much better range than a regular antenna and aren’t as affected by trees, buildings and other objects that might obstruct a traditional antenna’s path. Satellite, Meet My TV With its capabilities well established, it was only a matter of time before the media industry began pondering the satellite’s potential in television. Like traditional broadcasting antennas, satellite television works with radio waves as well but with a much broader range. The older, larger dishes transmitted analog signals that rarely required decoding. Today’s smaller dish systems send digital signals, which produce a higher quality of sound and video. This digital signal is encoded into MPEG-2 format – the same format as your DVD’s - and transmitted to your receiver box where it is decoded and translated into an analog signal that is then fed to your television. Why all the fuss? Digital produces enhanced video and audio that you just can’t get from analog. So how does it all work? In order to receive satellite programming, you’ll need a broadcast satellite provider. These providers have contracted with the various programming providers such as HBO, Showtime and of course, all your local channels. The programming providers send their programming to the satellite providers who in turn send it back out via satellite to your dish. It is then transmitted from the dish to your receiver box where it is decrypted and shown on your television. Satellite television gives us the ability to have a seemingly endless supply of programming without bulky equipment or a multitude of unique connections. And because satellite technology is wireless, you have the freedom to move your entertainment system as much as you’d like. Financial readiness how prepared are you

Home is where most people feel safe and comfortable. But sometimes — say, when a hurricane, flood, tornado, wildfire, or other disaster strikes — it’s safest to pack up and go to another location. When it comes to preparing for situations like weather emergencies, financial readiness is as important as a flashlight with fully charged batteries. Leaving your home can be stressful, but knowing that your financial documents are up-to-date, in one place, and portable can make a big difference at a tense time. Here are some tips for financial readiness in case of an emergency: Conduct a household inventory. Make a list of your possessions and document it with photos or a video. This could help if you are filing insurance claims. Keep one copy of your inventory in your home on a shelf in a lockable, fireproof file box; keep another in a safe deposit box or another secure location. Buy a lockable, fireproof file box. Place important documents in the box; keep the box in a secure, accessible location on a shelf in your home so that you can “grab it and go” if the need arises. Among the contents: - your household inventory - a list of emergency contacts, including family members who live outside your area - copies of current prescriptions - health insurance cards or information - policy numbers for auto, flood, renter’s, or homeowner’s insurance, and a list of telephone numbers of your insurance companies - copies of other important financial and family records — or notes about where they are — including deeds, titles, wills, birth and marriage certificates, passports, and relevant employee benefit and retirement documents. Except for wills, keep originals in a safe deposit box or some other location. If you have a will, ask your attorney to keep the original document. - a list of phone numbers or email addresses of your creditors, financial institutions, landlords, and utility companies (sewer, water, gas, electric, telephone, cable) - a list of bank, loan, credit card, mortgage, lease, debit and ATM, and investment account numbers Social Security cards - backups of financial data you keep on your computer - an extra set of keys for your house and car - the key to your safe deposit box - a small amount of cash or traveler’s checks. ATMs or financial institutions may be closed. - Consider renting a safe deposit box for storage of important documents. Original documents to store in a safe deposit box might include: - deeds, titles, and other ownership records for your home, autos, RVs, or boats - credit, lease, and other financial and payment agreements - birth certificates, naturalization papers, and Social Security cards - marriage license/divorce papers and child custody papers - passports and military papers (if you need these regularly, you could place the originals in your fireproof box and a copy in your safe deposit box) - appraisals of expensive jewelry and heirlooms - certificates for stocks, bonds, and other investments and retirement accounts trust agreements - living wills, powers of attorney, and health care powers of attorney insurance policies - home improvement records - household inventory documentation - a copy of your will Choose an out-of-town contact. Ask an out-of-town friend or relative to be the point of contact for your family, and make sure everyone in your family has the information. After some emergencies, it can be easier to make a long distance call than a local one. Update all your information. Review the contents of your household inventory, your fireproof box, safe deposit box, and the information for your out-of-town contact at least once a year.

10 easy ways to protect your family from food poisoning

Do you realize the many ways that bacteria can contaminate the food YOUR FAMILY eats? Do you know how to tell if your food is THOROUGHLY cooked to keep YOUR family safe from Food Poisoning? Do you know what to do if you or SOMEONE YOU LOVE gets Food Poisoning? When it comes to food preparation and storage, "Common Practices" could be POISONING your family! Here's how to avoid the problem entirely: 1. Plan For Safety Make sure you have the right equipment, including cutting boards, utensils, food thermometers, cookware, shallow containers for storage, soap, and paper towels. Make sure you have a source of clean water. Plan ahead to ensure that there will be adequate storage space in the refrigerator and freezer. 2. Shop Smart Prevention of food poisoning starts with your trip to the supermarket. Pick up your packaged and canned foods first. Buy cans and jars that look perfect. Do the cans have dents? Don't buy canned goods that are dented, cracked, or bulging. These are the warning signs that dangerous bacteria may be growing in the can. Are the jars cracked? Do they have lids that are loose or bulging? The food may have germs that can make you sick. Look for any expiration dates on the labels and never buy outdated food. Likewise, check the "use by" or "sell by" date on dairy products such as cottage cheese, cream cheese, yogurt, and sour cream and pick the ones that will stay fresh longest in your refrigerator. 3. Store Food Properly After shopping, get home as soon as you can. Then put food into the refrigerator or freezer right away. Make sure to set the refrigerator temperature to 40° F and the freezer to 0° F. Check temperatures with an appliance thermometer. Be sure to refrigerate or freeze perishables, prepared foods, and leftovers within 2 hours of shopping or preparing. Place raw meat, poultry, and seafood in containers in the refrigerator, to prevent their juices from dripping on other foods. Raw juices may contain harmful bacteria. Eggs always go in the refrigerator. 4. Prepare Food Safely Wash hands and surfaces often. Bacteria can be spread throughout the kitchen and get onto cutting boards, utensils and counter tops. To prevent this, wash hands with soap and hot water before and after handling food, and after using the bathroom, changing diapers, or handling pets. Wash everything else before and after it touches food. Use paper towels or clean cloths to wipe kitchen surfaces or spills. Wash cloths before you use them again for anything else. Use the hot cycle of your washing machine. Wash cutting boards, dishes, utensils, and counter tops with hot, soapy water after preparing each food item and before you go on to the next item. A solution of 1 teaspoon of bleach in 1 quart of water may be used to sanitize washed surfaces and utensils. 5. Cook Food Thoroughly Cook food thoroughly until it is done. Cooked red meat looks brown inside. Poke cooked chicken with a fork. The juices should look clear, not pink. Dig a fork into cooked fish. The fish should flake. Cooked egg whites and yolks are firm, not runny. Use a food thermometer to check the internal temperature of meat, poultry, casseroles and other food. Use a thermometer with a small-diameter stem. Insert the thermometer 1 to 2 inches into the center of the food and wait 30 seconds to ensure an accurate measurement. Check temperature in several places to be sure the food is evenly heated. 6. Chill Food Promptly Place food in the refrigerator. Don't overfill the refrigerator. Cool air must circulate to keep food safe. Divide food and place in shallow containers. Slice roast beef or ham and layer in containers in portions for service. Divide turkey into smaller portions or slices & refrigerate. Remove stuffing from cavity before refrigeration. Place soups or stews in shallow containers. To cool quickly, place in ice water bath and stir. Cover and label cooked foods. Include the preparation date on the label. 7. Transport Food Safely Keep cold food cold. Place cold food in cooler with a cold source such as ice or commercial freezing gels. Use plenty of ice or commercial freezing gels. Cold food should be held at or below 40° F. Hot food should be kept hot, at or above 140° F. Wrap well and place in an insulated container. 8. Reheat Food Correctly Heat cooked, commercially vacuum-sealed, ready-to-eat foods, such as hams and roasts, to 140° F. Foods that have been cooked ahead & cooled should be reheated to at least 165° F. Reheat leftovers thoroughly to at least 165° F. Reheat sauces, soups, and gravies to a boil. 9. Serve Food The Safe Way Use clean containers and utensils to store and serve food. When a dish is empty or nearly empty, replace with fresh container of food, removing the previous container. Place cold food in containers on some ice. Hold cold foods at or below 40° F. Food that will be portioned and served should be placed in a shallow container. Place the container inside a deep pan filled partially with ice to keep food cold. Once food is thoroughly heated on stovetop, oven or in microwave oven, keep food hot by using a heat source. Place food in chafing dishes, preheated steam tables, warming trays and/or slow cookers. Check the temperature frequently to be sure food stays at or above 140° F. 10. Complete Your Meal Experience Safely Cooked foods should not be left standing on the table or kitchen counter for more than 2 hours. Disease-causing bacteria grow in temperatures between 40° F and 140° F. Cooked foods that have been in this temperature range for more than 2 hours should not be eaten. If a dish is to be served hot, get it from the stove to the table as quickly as possible. Reheated foods should be brought to a temperature of at least 165° F. Keep cold foods in the refrigerator or on a bed of ice until serving. This rule is particularly important to remember in the summer months. Leftovers should be refrigerated as soon as possible. Meats should be cut in slices of 3 inches or less and all foods should be stored in small, shallow containers to hasten cooling. Be sure to remove all the stuffing from roast turkey or chicken and store it separately. Giblets should also be stored separately. Leftovers should be used within 3 days. Discard any food left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours. Copyright (c) Terry Nicholls. All Rights Reserved.

Golfing the joy of golf

I started playing golf as a way to entertain clients and socialize with my business vendors. If you have decided to take up golf as a hobby you will be rewarded with the benefits of fresh air, exercise, and the addition of many new friends and acquaintances. You will also be humbled by the process of learning HOW to golf. Like any project you approach in life your attitude and expectations will determine your enjoyment of the game. You will learn that the road to a low handicap is earned through countless bad shots, bunkers, water hazards and triple digit scores.

You will invest a lot of time in practice. Welcome every hook, slice and 3 putt as a learning opportunity. Even the most horrendous mistake is a learning opportunity. Golfing provides a rich opportunity to meet new people and provides you with opportunities for social interaction. You will get to meet new people in a setting in which you both have an avid interest, which makes for easy conversations.

Golfing is also an excellent opportunity to meet like minded single people if you are looking for new people to meet. How much golf equipment do you actually need? 5 simple weight loss tips

Not long ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and my doctor told me to lose weight or my life would be shortened by many years. Being overweight most of my life I knew it was time to get serious. I know how hard weight loss is and I want to share a few things with you I found along the way that helped me lose 70lbs in eleven months. I believe these weight loss tips can help you too, no matter what diet you chose to follow. Tip #1 Eat Smaller Meals More Often Eat breakfast, and then a couple of hours later have a snack. Eat lunch then a couple of hours later then have another snack. In another couple of hours you can eat dinner. Just make your choices are sensible. I buy the small peeled carrots in the bag that are ready to eat so I can eat healthy snacks. Most diet plans leave you feeling deprived, but all of that chewing makes you feel more satisfied. Eating every few hours also raises your metabolic rate which means your body will burn fat and stop storing fat. Once you get used to this small change, you'll discover this weight loss tip really works. Tip #2 Eat Lots Of Vegetables Eat raw vegetables and salads because they are low in calories, low in carbohydrates and are loaded with vitamins. But if you cover your salad or vegetables with dressing, you may as well forget about losing weight. Always get your salad dressing on the side because dressing is high in fat. A good weight loss tip I discovered is dip your fork in the dressing before you fork the salad. This gives you a small taste but keeps the amount of salad dressing you eat to a minimum. Tip #3 Drink Plenty Of Water I fought this tip at first because it was just too hard to believe. But I changed my mind when I saw the benefits. Drinking water not only makes you less hungry but you will notice a big difference in the way you feel. I drank a lot of diet sodas all of my life, but changing to water gave me a cleaner feeling and it actually helped me shed pounds once I switched. Any doctor will tell you to drink more water because it's good for your overall health. If you change your mind about drinking more water, it could be the one tip that makes a big difference in your weight loss. Tip #4 Walk Oh no, the dreaded exercise word. That's what I used to think, but just walking 20 minutes everyday helps burn fat and gives you more energy. Go out of the door and take a walk whether it's before work, after work or even during your lunch. I started by walking around my subdivision before work and was amazed at the difference it made in my weight loss. Tip #5 Lose Weight Slowly You should not lose any more than 1 to 2 lbs a week. If you lose weight too quickly your chances of gaining the weight right back dramatically increases. Losing weight too quickly can also cause health problems. Look at losing weight as a long marathon and pace yourself so you can cross the finish line. Only concentrate on the next pound not the whole amount of weight you want to lose. In the end, you'll not only complete the marathon but you will dramatically improve your health at the same time. I am not a doctor and I would recommend you consult your doctor before you start any diet or exercise plan. This weight loss tips article was written only to share my personal experience with you with the hope that you will benefit from it. Choose a healthy diet plan that you can live with the rest of your life because it is the only way you'll keep the weight off. These weight loss tips will work for you if you keep an open mind and believe they will work. How to avoid weight gain while working at home

We have all heard the many benefits of working at home – set your own hours, spend more time with your family, avoid the commute, etc. And many people (including myself!) have actually reaped these benefits. But one thing we aren’t told is that for some of us, one unfortunate side effect of being at home all day is weight gain. Now I know that a lot of the work-at-home crowd is really only at home in an office part of the time. Salespeople are always out on sales calls, and well, if you run a day care center in your home, then you’re probably chasing little ones around all day. These work-at-home types are probably immune to the weight gain. I’m talking about the rest of us. Those of us who are home alone, all day, with nothing but a computer and a bag of cookies to keep us company.

How can we fight the urge to indulge? Let’s take a look at the top 5 options: Set a routine and stick to it. Yes, I know, one of the benefits of working at home is not having the rigid work schedule, but we still need to have some sort of structure. Your routine should only allow for a few minutes of snacking a day, so that you know when and where you will be eating. Don’t keep tempting foods in the house. This is much easier said than done, especially if you have children. I do not have kids, (but I do have a husband who can eat whatever he wants and never gain weight. Don’t you just hate him?) so I have to watch which foods get put into the pantry. And let’s face it, we could all stand to make some healthier selections. Buy apples instead of chips, or protein bars instead of candy bars. Just one substitute here and there can make a difference. Get moving. You knew it was coming, and here it is – that dreaded word: exercise. I’m not saying you have to do two hours of calisthenics a day, but you do need to get up out of that chair and do something. Go for a walk, do some light housework, it doesn’t matter. Just do something besides sitting. Use break-time wisely. Wait a minute – doesn’t taking a break mean eating a snack? NO! You need to fill your break time with other things that you enjoy. Like reading, or knitting, or talking on the phone (my favorite!). Maybe even combine this with option #3 (get moving), and then you’ll be doing well. Make some trade-offs. Okay, so you had a few too many snacks one day. You’ll do better the next day. Or you’ll do some extra exercise to make up for it. If you have that snack, make a commitment to walk, instead of drive, on your next errand. As with many things in life, it’s all about moderation. The benefits of working at home far outweigh (pun intended!) the negative aspects. And if you can follow the steps above to fight the bulge, then you will make the work-at-home experience that much more enjoyable.

Ways to deal with hair loss

A great many people suffer from hair loss problems during their lives, and suffering from thinning hair – particularly at an earlier age – can prove very stressful and traumatic. We often associate hair loss with old age, but the truth is that there are many causes of this problem and it can affect anyone and at any age. From small bald spots to high level loss of hair, different people can be affected in different ways, often depending on the cause of the problem. Thankfully, there are a number of solutions available these days that can help with promoting regrowth of the hair. Often the solution that is most effective will depend on a number of factors, such as the cause of the problem, the level of loss, and even your budget. However, different treatments suit different people, and you may find that a solution that has worked on a friend may do nothing for your problem. Benefiting from hair loss solutions Medications, vitamins, and herbal remedies Products for the treatment of this problem have been around for many years, but in the past have been treated with some doubt and scepticism. However, over the years, the products available in terms of treatment for thinning hair or loss of hair have vastly improved and many people have found success through the range of over the counter solutions and medications designed to help with the growth of new hair and follicle improvement. You can also get medication on prescription for this problem, such as regaine, and for many this has proven the ideal solution, although you should ensure that you check the side effects with both prescription and over the counter solutions. Vitamins and herbal remedies are also available and could help with this problem, but again the cause of the loss of hair – which could range from illness and medication side effects to stress and poor diet – will often determine how effective each treatment for loss of hair will be. Transplants could prove the ideal solution Although more expensive than traditional solutions for the treatment of loss of hair, transplants are becoming increasingly popular as a solution simply because this form of treatment is both permanent and effective. By grafting from a healthy area of the scalp, the surgeon can then transplant hair and healthy follicles to the affected area, thus eliminating the baldness problem and promoting regrowth in the future. For many, this is the most natural and effective treatment for their problem. Because the cause of loss of hair can vary so widely, it is important to try and ascertain the cause of the issue before attempting to treat it. If you notice that you are losing your hair through anything other than aging it is important to seek medical advice before treatment. You can then determine which form of treatment might best suit your needs.

Making your dog listen

Making Your Dog Listen Getting frustrated that your dog jumps up on people when you are visiting friends? Can’t understand why your dog runs away from you at the park while everyone else’s happily comes back? The simple answer is have you tried dog obedience training? It is simple, effective and very fun to do if you have the right attitude and patience. The basics of dog obedience training and teaching your dog to sit, stay and come. These basic training commands will be extremely beneficial to you later on in your dog’s life. When you take your dog out you don’t want him to be running muck in the street, you want to show him off for the perfect dog that he is! Dog obedience training can be achieved in a matter of weeks with the right attention, dedication and patience. There are a lot of obedience classes available. So if you can't teach your dog by yourself there is plenty support at the class, there are also other dogs there. Not only are you training your dog you are socializing him to which of course is the next step after sit, stay and come. Dogs are kind of like children to an extent, except with a lot of fur, they need to be taught right and wrong. I always find that treats are a great method of dog obedience training; you award them with a special treat when they have done something you have asked them to. If they don’t respond they don’t get a treat. There is no point shouting at your dog as he will only become scared of you and you don’t want that, you want to form a happy relationship with him. Dog’s are a man’s best friend! When teaching your dog obedience try and teach him away from distractions like his toys, take him to an empty field or park where there aren’t any people, only you and him. Tell him firmly but nicely that you want him to sit, then take your hand and place it on his back and gently guide his bottom down, when it is down say sit and tell him he’s a good boy then award him with a treat. Repeating this over and over again will make him realize that when you say sit you mean for him to sit and he gets rewarded, soon enough he will know to sit when you tell him to and the treats are no longer necessary. Getting him to stay is another matter, you’ll probably need another person for that. Get him to sit (once he has learned how) and get a friend to hold him. Walk away from him telling him to stay, using your hand hold it up firmly (doing this will make him realize that when you hold your hand up in the future you want him to stay as well, not just when you tell him to) then give it a few seconds and let your friend release him, when he comes to you make him sit and tell him how clever he is! Don’t forget to reward him. While using this technique you are also teaching your dog how to come to you as well, so don’t forget to say "ome" to him, not just his name. When dogs are born they are like soft clay, they need to be molded and shaped. You can teach your dog from any age and the younger you start the easier it is. Like they say: you can't teach an old dog new tricks!!! Word count 596

Burning bridges is bad but firewalls are good

When you signed up for that ultra-fast DSL or Cable connection there was probably one very important piece of information that your ISP failed to mention. By accessing the Internet via a high-speed connection, you have tremendously increased your chances of being victimized by a computer hacker. Dial-up may not have seemed like it could have held any advantages, but it actually did have one upside. It is much less prone to hacking. Every time you dialed-in your computer was assigned a new IP address. That unique IP address made you a moving target that was more difficult for hackers to hit. With a high-speed connection you are assigned a static IP address (it never changes). So, your computer went from being a moving target to staying still with a bulls-eye pasted on the side. That, coupled with the fact that with a high-speed connection your computer is always online, are ideal conditions for a potential hacker attack. That seemingly beneficial always-on connection gives hackers a 24/7 open invitation to try and hack your system. Once inside they can access personal or financial details, compromise your computer's operating system, or unleash a virus, worm, or spyware. Which Firewall is Right For You? Now that you know how vital a firewall is to the protection of your PC you have to decide which firewall is right for you. Software or hardware. A software firewall is designed to monitor your computers activity at all times. Think of it as a bodyguard who won't let anyone into your computer if he doesn't like the look of them. With a software firewall you may to have to assist in protecting your system. The firewall might alert you to certain activity and ask you if you want to grant or deny permission. It's just like the bodyguard that was mentioned before. He needs the okay before telling someone to scram. After you give either the thumbs up or the thumbs down the firewall will take the appropriate action and remember your reply so that you won't be asked in the future. If you feel comfortable installing and configuring hardware, then you might want to consider a hardware firewall in the form of a Cable/DSL router. The hardware firewall handles everything on its own without any input from you and you also won't have to read any reports or make any decisions. The firewall handles everything on its own. Installation, however, can be tricky, so this option is definitely more suited to the advanced computer user. My Firewall is Installed. Now I'm Safe, Right? With your new firewall in place you are probably thinking that your computer is impenetrable, right? Well, maybe not. As important to the security of your system as a firewall is, some do have their limits. Most software firewalls won't scan your system for viruses that can harm your computer and there aren't any hardware firewalls on the market that offer virus protection. That means that you are still vulnerable to attack. The best line of defense against viruses that can harm your system is anti-virus protection. You can either buy a seperate anti-virus program or shop around for a software firewall with anti-virus protection built-in. You may never be able to make your computer 100% hacker-proof, but the installation of a firewall coupled with anti-virus protection will greatly reduce your chances of becoming a hacker's next victim.

Is something missing from your keywords research part 2

In my previous article, I raised the issue that proper keyword research must take into account countries. The reason for that was that the demand for keywords can vary between countries. I gave examples of that fact using the Overture keyword tool. To support my argument (that we need to be aware of countries when doing keyword research), I gave 2 reasons: 1. it will help us determine which countr(y/ies) to target, and 2. it will help us know what countr(y/ies) our visitors are most likely to come from. I would like, in this article, to expand on these 2 reasons. I would also like to add further reasons why any keyword research must be country based. 1. When doing keyword research, we need to understand the limitations of our research. This is necessary in order to remove any assumptions we make about our findings. For example, if you find that the demand for a keyword is very high in the US, you cannot assume that the demand for that same keyword will also be vey high in other countries. You will only know for sure how much demand there is worldwide by doing country specific keyword research. Such research can be done using a tool such as the Overture keyword tool, 2. It will tell you where your visitors are most likely to come from. This in turn will tell you what features you need to add to your web site. For example, if you are targeting a keyword that is in demand in the US only, then obviously most of your visitors will come from the US. This then means that you need to design your web site primarily for US visitors. You will hence need to: use US spelling such as "color" and not "colour", if you sell products, then list your prices in US$, if you live in the US, then add a fax number so your visitors can place orders by fax, if you live in the US, you could organise a US free call number for your visitors to ring you should they need to, if you live in the US and you ship your orders, then you could include shipping costs. You could also include how long it will take for them to receive their order, if you don't live in the US, then you will need to make it possible for your visitors to pay you in US$, if you don't live in the US and you ship your orders, then you could include shipping costs. And you could include how long it will take for them to receive their order, and so on . . . If on the other hand, you are wanting to target several non-English speaking countries, then: you may need to add a translation service to your site so that your visitors can read your site in their language, you may need to add a currency exchange service so that your visitors can convert your prices into their currency, you may need to make it possible for your visitors to pay you in their own currency, you may need to add other ways for your visitors to pay you apart from credit cards. You could offer international cheques/checks, money orders, direct bank transfers, . . . I once had a customer who wanted to pay me in Euros from Italy and needed my address to do so. The easier you make it for people to place an order, the greater the chances someone will place an order! if you ship your orders, then you could add the shipping costs to each of the countries you are targeting. And include how long it will take for them to receive their order, and so on . . . May be you can think of other things you will need to add to your site to accommodate your international visitors. 3. It will help you target the right keywords for the country you want to target. For example, if you want to target Canada, then you will need to use keywords that are in high demand in Canada only. There is absolutely no point doing keyword research in the UK if you are wanting to target Canada as the keyword demand between the 2 countries may vary greatly. 4. It will help you develop a keyword strategy so that you can target several countries at the same time. This can be achieved in several ways depending on the keywords' demand and supply. you could use keywords that are in common demand in the several countries. For example, if you sell "widgets" with your site and you find that there is a healthy demand for "black widgets" in the US, the UK, Canada and Australia. Then you could target that keyword with your site as that keyword will help you target 4 countries in one go, you could use keywords in demand in each country, as long as they complement each other and are highly relevant for your site. For example, using the widget idea, if you found that "colored widgets" are in demand in the US, "white widgets" are in demand in the UK, "black widgets" in Canada, and "coloured widgets" in Australia. Then, you would just target all these keywords with your site which would not be hard to do as all these keywords can easily be targeted together. Given the right circumstances, you could even use both strategies at the same time. As I mentioned in my first article, the Overture keyword tool enables you to research the demand for keywords in some 19 countries around the world. To see the countries that Overture supports, go to overture. com and have a look at the top right corner of the page. By clicking on any one of the countries listed, you will have access to the Overture keyword tool for the country you selected, and this will enable you to research the keyword demand in that country. As you may know, keyword demand is only one half of the equation. Keyword demand needs to be looked at together with its supply numbers. One of the ways of determining keyword supply is to use Google. This means that to you need to know how to use Google to research the supply of keywords in your country of interest. This is a bit harder to explain and beyond the scope of this article. I hope that this second article has convinced you about the need to be country aware when doing your keyword research. The success of your web site may depend on it. Serge M Botans

4 secrets to turn any business into a successful web business part 4

Copyright 2006 Lynn VanDyke There are a few secrets that I'd like to share with you. You may have been privy to a few of them before. Actually you may have heard of all 4, but I can promise that you will finish each article with a fresh perspective. I will show you how 4 simple secrets can create a powerhouse web business. This is the fourth and final part of the 4 article series. Before I divulge the vault of successful web business secrets I must warn you of one thing. All the information in the world will not take the place of determination and persistence. A web business is just like an offline business. It takes hard work and resolve to succeed. However working smart is heads and tails better than plain old working. These 4 secrets will turn any smart working, dedicated average Joe or Jane into a successful web business owner. Web Success Secret #4) Monetization Will Flow When All Steps Have Been Followed. You may be a bit surprised to learn that monetization is the last of the 4 steps. Many business owners position monetization as their first goal. Everything they do from conception of the business is geared towards making money. After all, that is the point of owning your own web business, right? When I first learned of the four step approach to making successful web businesses, I was a bit skeptical. I have never heard of such a risky business idea - think of making money as the last goal. That sounded absurd to me! In all of my small business education the emphasis was on profit charts and balance sheets and projected annual returns. Being online does change some things. One of those things is how you start and run a long term and profitable business. Following the process of starting a web business often involved very little capital. The risk is typically much lower and the return on investment arrives in a shorter time span. Because of this you have a unique advantage to allow the natural progression of your site visitors come into play. Let’s back up a bit and review. People search for information, not products, online. They are not looking to spend money. They type in their search query at the search engines. Your site should be on the first page. You should know how to provide a killer title and description that makes the potential visitor want to click on your site. Once they are on your site, their objective has not changed. They still want information. So give it to them. As you provide valuable content that satisfies your visitors, you should be developing trust and positioning yourself as the expert. Make recommendations to your products or services. This is the natural progression of an online visitor. They want information, they find you, they receive answers from you, they develop trust in you and think of you as an expert. It is only when those criteria have been met that you gain customers. Let me repeat that last line because it is the most important line in the entire 4 part series: it is only when the first three steps have been met that you earn income. The goods news is once you finish the first three steps (content, traffic, and pre-selling) you will continue to pull in hot, targeted traffic from the search engines month after month. All of this traffic is totally free! No advertising costs! Monetization naturally occurs. There are a few things you can do to help increase your conversion rates: - Only recommend 2-3 services or products. Having more than this makes it difficult for your visitor to decide which is best for them. It is also very difficult for you to recommend them all. - Place graphics of your product or service on each page of your content website. This allows visitors to see your offerings more than once. - Write a monthly newsletter and provide excellent content. Also provide a special on one of your services/products. - Test everything - price points, graphics, sales page, etc. As I mentioned earlier, it is best to work smarter and not harder.
