How to use e mail cold calls without falling into the spam trap

: "Spammers have just about destroyed e-mail as a legitimate selling tool, but there are still ways you can use it to open communication rather than shutting it down right off the bat. E-mail is still a totally appropriate way of communicating with someone -- as long as you use language that doesn't trigger the "salesperson" stereotype." First, we'll take a close look at one example of a "cold introduction" e-mail that uses the traditional sales mindset. Then we'll apply the Unlock The Game™ mindset so you can get an idea of how to create e-mails that won't trigger the negative "salesperson," or even "spamming salesperson," stereotype. On the surface, it looks innocent enough, but take a moment and ask yourself what your instant reaction would be if it arrived in your e-mail box. The problem is that this message violates the core principles of the Unlock The Game™ mindset by creating the impression that the sender's only concern is making a sale. How? There is a better way. Here's the same e-mail, but rewritten from the Unlock The Game™ mindset. How do you think you would react if you received this e-mail? Perhaps you would give a sigh of relief because you wouldn't be feeling any sales pressure from this stranger you've never met. This example shows that, even though e-mail is basically an impersonal one-way form of communicating, the Unlock The Game™ mindset can humanize the connection. When you give prospects a chance to respond to your request for help, you increase the possibilities for two-way communication and trust-building. "Always pay attention to how words and phrases that are typical of the traditional selling mindset can make you come across as a spammer," I told Janice. You might want to start reviewing your e-mails to prospects. Does your message focus on discussing you and your solution, instead of your prospects' issues or problems? If you start to rethink and change your language, you may find yourself with more sales than you thought possible. The basic principle is simple: Avoid self-sabotaging sales language. A few weeks later, Janice reported back to me that she had been getting much more favorable responses, leading to more phone conversations with new prospects. Try it yourself -- and do let me know how it goes.

5 tips to avoid a 10lb christmas weight gain

The average person puts on between five and ten pounds between November and January and it's pretty easy to put on more if you let yourself feast on all the delights of the season. But who wants to be miserable and diet through Christmas? Follow these tips to have fun without piling on the pounds. 1. Have the right attitude If you go into Christmas with the idea that you'll just eat everything you possibly can and worry about it in January then you will bitterly regret it when Christmas is over. Decide to enjoy the festive season without going plain silly over all the goodies on offer. Choose the things you particularly like and say no to anything which you're really not bothered about. 2. Eat how much you need At every meal aim for a comfortable feeling of satisfaction rather than getting to the stage where you need to loosen your waistband. Decide to enjoy your meal AND feel great afterwards. This tip alone will save you hundreds of calories every meal. If you want to try all the courses, have small portions of everything you really want. 3. Keep up your exercise Don't give up your usual exercise routine over the holidays because it will be hard to get back into it later. If you really can't get to the gym, do a few exercises at home or go out walking. It will not just use up some calories, it will keep you in touch with your desire to stay slim and healthy. Also keep as active as possible as you go about your day - don't sit about watching the TV specials, nibbling nuts and chocolate. 4. Put it away If you have lots of extra treats at home "for guests", get them out when people come and put them away when they go home. Out of sight, out of mind will help a little but if those treats do start calling out to you from the cupboard, put a few on a plate and put the rest away so that you are not constantly nibbling from the packet. 5. Peace and goodwill Try and keep calm over Christmas. As stress levels rise, so does our tendency to eat for comfort. Just remember that you don't have to make Christmas perfect for everyone else while running yourself into the ground. Do the best you can with the time available and then just decide to enjoy it however much you've done. If others have expectations of how Christmas should be then get them involved in making it so! Have some (non-food) treats up your sleeve to enjoy when it all gets a bit too much. It doesn't cost a lot to tuck away a sachet of perfumed bubble bath, a glossy magazine or a novel you've been dying to read. If all else fails call an old friend for a chat rather than eating the fridge empty. Copyright 2005, Janice Elizabeth Small

Are the risks of plastic surgery worth taking

Thanks to television and movies, people are bewitched into believing that cosmetic surgery is a panacea as far as aesthetics are concerned. Women often fantasize about enhancing their appearance by having a breast lift or breast augmentation surgery. However, despite the glorification of cosmetic surgery, surgery of any kind has associated risks and complications that cannot be overlooked. Even though the results may seem alluring, patients must consider the possible risks. A tragic incident, which highlights this paradoxical situation, was the death of Olivia Goldsmith, an American novelist who died of anesthetic complications during plastic surgery. Though cases like Olivia’s sad demise are extremely rare, the point is that the patient must understand that any surgery involves risk.

The duty on the patient’s part is to ensure that he/she has complete knowledge of all possible risks and, thus, take necessary steps to circumvent such hazards. In general, a comprehensive pre-operative examination to determine your candidature, an expertly performed surgery, and proper post-operative care is enough to avert most common complications. Some of the serious complications of plastic surgery are bad reaction to anesthesia, excessive blood loss, and blood clots that might block passage of blood through a blood vessel – potentially leading to a stroke. These complications are associated with major procedures like liposuction and abdominoplasty. Another possible complication of liposuction is fat embolism, where loosened fat may lodge into the lungs, potentially causing death. However, all such complications are highly unlikely.

Some people are at a higher risk of experiencing plastic surgery complications. For instance, smoking, having certain medications such as blood thinners, or having an ancestral trend of blood clots, brings you at a greater risk of facing complications. In general, plastic surgery is a safe and efficacious procedure with an excellent success rate. But since it’s a surgery, the patient must completely confirm his/her candidature by having an elaborate discussion with the surgeon, revealing facts about drug use, allergies, and the general living style.

How to recognize your niche marketing agenda

Starting a business, whether it's retail products or services, must establish their own "niche". It doesn't matter how great your products or services is, how great your sales letter is or your headlines, offers or what a great price you're offering. If you try to sell your products or services to the wrong market, there's a strong guarantee it's not going to work. What is a niche? A niche is a particular specialty in whicha business or person finds they prosper. Niche strategy inmarketing is to market to a small but lucrative portion ofthe market.

The small size of the niche generally ensures efficient marketing efforts and few if any direct competitors. On the other hand, if you take an average product or service, and maybe your ad copy is only medium grade, maybe your price is only medium grade, that I've actually seen these marketing campaigns go to the right targeted audience and pull a decent response. The point I'm trying to make is, to help you understand the difference between the right target market and a good marketing campaign. What can you do to make sure you get the right audience? You have to begin by knowing who your products and services actually appeal to. Then find the largest market that can actually buy your products or services or the best market that can afford to pay for your products or services. You might find multiple markets. You don't want to leave any markets out. You want to be sure you target a specific market tightly enough so you can appeal to their interest, but not so tightly that you don't appeal to anyone at all. If you have a product that appeals to multiple markets, you can develop multiple campaigns. If it's a service business, that goes into the home, then you really appeal to many markets. A home owner that is a doctor, a homeowner that is a dentist, a homeowner that is a business owner, you can target to these specific people and treat them as a particular market. One great way to get into a particular market is to find a professional that is already in that market or is already a customer of yours and get them to be a cheerleader for you. Ask them if they will endorse you. Usually they will if they like your products or services. For example, here's a story about my good friend Janice, a letter she created. Janice wanted to use her doctor as a reference for her business and she asked her doctor if she could write a letter from him to all of the other professionals in that market on their letterhead in their envelopes and send out that letter on top of one of his sales letters. Shockingly, Her doctor said yes. Her letter read like this; "I don't do this very often, but I've received such good service from Dr. Blevins, I thought the rest of you should know about this." And on with her message she explained the good service and at the end she left her business information. The results were staggering and Janice Then gave her doctor a free gift. She bought Dr. Blevins a box of his letterheads being that she used theirs, and she sent her Doctor an organizer to put them in. You see, what this does is it makes sure the envelope gets opened from her market because other doctors will open information on other doctors. Always give your niche some kind of position to help you increase your business. Sopranos star takes control of diabetes

Aida Turturro, the actress who plays Janice Soprano on the HBO series "The Sopranos," is one of the more than 20 million Americans who have diabetes. Turturro was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (where the body does not produce enough insulin or the cells do not use the insulin properly) in 2000. For more than a year after her initial diagnosis she was in denial and did not take the proper steps-such as diet and exercise-to manage the disease. Finally, her doctor told her that her blood sugar levels were too high and if she did not learn how to manage the disease, she would suffer serious complications. "As soon as I started learning more about the potential complications of the disease, I realized I should have taken action sooner," said Turturro.

"It is scary what can happen to you if you do not take control of your diabetes." Turturro was among the more than 50 percent of diabetes patients whose A1C levels are above the target goal of 7 percent as established by the American Diabetes Association. Patients with diabetes should know their A1C level. It is a simple blood test that assesses glucose levels over a two - to three-month period. In addition to her diet and exercise routines, Turturro worked with her doctor to develop a treatment regimen that was right for her. At first she was taking oral medications but was still unable to get her blood sugar levels under control. About two years ago, Turturro and her doctor added Lantus® (insulin glargine [rDNA origin] injection), the once-daily, true 24-hour basal insulin, to her treatment plan. With a treatment regimen that includes Lantus and other diabetes medications, Turturro achieves good blood glucose control with an A1C level below seven percent. "Managing diabetes is not easy. What I have learned is the best way to manage the disease is by becoming educated, motivated and an advocate for yourself," said Turturro. "It is a 24-hour disease and you have to put in a real effort to keep your blood sugar levels under control." Note to Editors: Important Safety Information for Lantus Lantus is indicated for once-daily subcutaneous administration, at the same time each day, for the treatment of adult and pediatric patients (6 years and older) with type 1 diabetes mellitus or adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who require basal (long-acting) insulin for the control of hyperglycemia. Lantus must not be diluted or mixed with any other insulin or solution. If mixed or diluted, the solution may become cloudy, and the onset of action/time to peak effect may be altered in an unpredictable manner. Lantus is contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to insulin glargine or the excipients. Hypoglycemia is the most common adverse effect of insulin, including Lantus. As with all insulins, the timing of hypoglycemia may differ among various insulin formulations. Glucose monitoring is recommended for all patients with diabetes. Any change of insulin type and/or regimen should be made cautiously and only under medical supervision. Concomitant oral antidiabetes treatment may need to be adjusted. Other adverse events commonly associated with Lantus include the following: lipodystrophy, skin reactions (such as injection-site reaction, pruritus, rash) and allergic reactions.

Olivia newton john is stronger than before

She's wondered "Have You Never Been Mellow," implored us to get "Physical" and made it clear she's "Hopelessly Devoted to You." Now singer, actress and breast cancer prevention advocate Olivia Newton-John wants us to know she's "Stronger Than Before." That's the title of the multi-Grammy-winning artist's newest compact disc, a 10-song collection inspired by her ongoing efforts to promote women's health. It is available only at Hallmark Gold Crown stores in September and October (National Breast Cancer Awareness Month). Newton-John is a 13-year breast cancer survivor. Fittingly, "Stronger Than Before" features songs of courage and hope inspired by her journey to good health and strong advocacy of early detection. Hallmark specifically selected her to record the company's first-ever CD designed to raise consciousness about the disease and funds to fight it. In a career that has seen numerous gold and platinum records, and movie stardom opposite John Travolta in "Grease," Newton-John says she has never been more personally attached to a project than she is with "Stronger Than Before." She collaborated with close friends, many of them fellow breast cancer survivors, and chose each track for its meaning and significance. Included on the album are "Phenomenal Woman," based on a poem by Maya Angelou, with the voices of Patti LaBelle, Diahann Carroll and others, and "Can I Trust Your Arms," written by Newton-John's daughter Chloe. "Stronger Than Before" is priced at $9.95. Hallmark will donate $2 from the sale of each CD to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Hallmark also is donating $2 from the sale of each $14.95 Angel of Grace Keepsake Ornament to the charity, along with a minimum of 10 percent of the retail price of a gift collection. The collection includes boxed note cards, a pink suede-paper journal, heart-shaped bezel box, pink champagne glasses, and a pink nightshirt. This is the seventh anniversary of the Hallmark Gold Crown Cards for the Cure program, featuring a free, specially designed card that reminds friends and family about the importance of early detection of breast cancer.

How to pick a winning ball team

As the air starts getting warmer and the days grow longer that can mean only one thing, Baseball season is about to begin. With a month till the seasons first game I already hear people talking about what players are looking good in spring training and what team is going take the championship. This is especially true for the Betting fans. Here are the top things to remember when betting on baseball in order to have great and merry experience. 1) The most important thing to remember when trying to pick a winner before the season starts is the off season. What did the players do? Usually players will go to some warmer climates like Mexico or South America and play ball, but it is also not uncommon for a player to site around getting fat and lazy. Then right before the season begins they will push themselves at the gym. This is bad because it is the best way to get injured, and I am sure that if you check out most players who have early season injuries you will find this to be the case. So check out what players did what. If you can find a team where more then half went south to play for the winter, then this is a team to watch. If most of the team went on vacation or sat around you may want to bet against this team. 2) The next thing to think about it off season trades and pick ups. This means looking at what teams have many new players or players new to their team. If a team has too many new players what happens is you have a team that does not play as a team. When a team has been together for a few seasons each player can almost predict what the others are going to do and there is a unity that a new group of players just does not have. 3) The next step is to look at individual player skills. Does the team have good pitching and good hitting? Because you cant win without both. What good is having great pitchers who can stop the other team from scoring if your team can't score? 4) Pre-season is also a good sign of what the team is going to do. If in pre-season the team seems like they are still playing from the season before this is a team to watch, but if they seem like they never played together before this may be a year to look at another team Keep these things in mind when trying to pick your team to bet on for the season, but remember this is just a guide. Players who trained and played in the winter also get injured and sometimes new players can get it together quickly.

What s hot on 50 cent

His thirst to take over led him to start his own record label and clothing line, G-Unit, act in feature films and provide voice-over for popular video games. Not to mention owning 10% of Vitamin Water, later purchased by Coca Cola for $ 4.1 billion dollars. This man gets paid. A true survivor, 50 Cent grew up on the mean streets of South Jamaica Queens, New York where he sold drugs at the age of twelve during the 1980’s crack epidemic. He was raised by his grandmother after his mother was killed, and he was shot nine times in front of his home on May 14, 2000.

His survival gave the rapper a controversial and somewhat mythical image. His remarkable story propels him to continue making hits and building his own fortune. In 2003, 50 Cent released his debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin'. It was an instant success, selling over 870,000 copies within 4 days. Interscope quickly granted him his own record label, G-Unit Records, that same year.

While working with the emerging artists on his label, 50 released his sophomore album, The Massacre. It featured hits like “Just a Lil Bit” and “Candy Shop” featuring Olivia, the only lady on G-Unit records. His sophomore album was a hit, selling over 5 million copies and garnering a Grammy nomination for rap album of the year in 2005. He lost that year to Kanye West, and the record breaking rappers did the legendary cover of "Rolling Stone." Both rappers had albums that dropped on September 11th, and the release was played up by the media as a rivalry. However, they both have made it clear that it is nothing more than friendly competition. 50 Cent has been keeping busy traveling around to promote his new self-titled third album, Curtis. It is another club banging, story telling, boastful 50 Cent classic. This album was highly anticipated by fans everywhere who wanted to know what was on the rapper's mind after letting go of Olivia, publicly beefing with rapper, Cameron, and competing with Kanye West in album sales. It alsoshows fans a different side of the rapper, a more sensual side, with songs like “Amusement Park,” which we can assure you is not a place for kids. 50 Cent promises fans that this year will be a big year. In addition to promoting his album, he recently launched his own film production company, G-Unit Films. He has been working on a feature film with Nicolas Cage, called "The Dance," and is set to star opposite Robert DeNiro in "Righteous Kill." With a production company, a record deal and several other business ventures under his belt, it is plain to see that there is a lot more to this rapper than meets the eye.

Lose weight with three bites

Sometimes life is just too short to say "No"! When you're eating out or having a special meal and you really want to have dessert, it's not always sensible to deny yourself and feel deprived. You'll only rebel later and make up for those feelings of deprivation with a feast. On the other hand, when you know that a slice of cake or creamy dessert will be 700 calories or more, which you can definitely do without, you are left with a "should I / shouldn't I" dilemma. As a compromise, ask for the smallest portion of whatever you really want - at a restaurant you can ask a friend to share. And then take only three bites. Eat your treat as slowly as you possibly can, linger over it and enjoy the taste in your mouth. Make the very most of those three bites and then cover the rest with your napkin. You can't do much damage with three bites if you simply have to have something and it means you can enjoy your treat without the guilt. And far from being a waste of money, it doesn't matter whether bites four to fifteen land in the trash or on your hips - you are spending the same amount. You can try this with other highly fattening foods too - allowing yourself three bites of anything will mean that no food is forbidden and somehow you don't crave it quite so much when it's on the "allowed list". Just remember to save this strategy for when you really need it, when the desserts are so delicious you just can't resist or when you really need a treat, because if you do it all the time those bites do add up! The sweet shade of a chinaberry tree

Fascinating from the start, The Sweet Shade of a Chinaberry Tree, by Janice Parrish, is certainly hard to classify. A creative fiction based on the author’s own experiences while growing up in Southern States in the tumultuous 1960’s – a time of great change for America - could also be classified as an inter-racial romance or possibly a drama. The Sweet Shade of a Chinaberry Tree involves multicultural and social issues, true young love, the relationship between the main character and her parents and so much more. The setting is based in Alabama, USA during the summer of 1963. The novel follows 19-year-old Gaynell McGowan from the moment she returns to her home town during a summer break from college where she had learned all kinds of novel ideas that would forever alter her view of the people she once believed in and knew so well. Failing to fully complete her college course, Gaynell is assigned a paper, which lead her into the most tender and truest of loves anyone could ever experience. Readers will thrive on the thrilling, secretive, inter-racial romance and the incredible sacrifice Parrish’s characters endure.

A town, stubborn in their ways, is afraid of racial change and this fear empowers a threat so great that it has begun to rip the town apart and shatter families. The small town is facing the challenge of having the first school in Alabama become integrated with black students. Under orders from the government, bigoted and heartless behavior toward a set of people who just happen to have a darker skin begins to tear the town apart. So-called "normal, god-fearing" individuals strengthen their resistance and suppression, while a few individuals turn to hateful, murderous, cross-burning tactics. My respect for the author grew when I read her statement "In Gaynell McGowan, I have found the voice to express the inhumanity we Southerners covered with good manners and lace tablecloths." So many aspects of this time period and radical change are covered in her fantastic array of characters that I could not possibly do it justice in this book review. All that I can say is that this book has found a spot on my shelves indefinitely and the characters are locked in my mind forever. While I did not spend time in the Southern US, I did grow up around those that struggled with this issue and feel the way this author portrayed the people could not have been more realistic or more heart-felt. The Sweet Shade of a Chinaberry Tree would be an excellent historical fiction movie not just because of the first hand experience, but also due to the excellent research the author put in to get the right feel for this dramatic period.
